Meet our hosts

VT (brownchubbybear)

I have a different story of how I became a Texans fan than most since I didn’t grow up in Houston. It started in 2009 when my closest friend asked me to join his fantasy football league. Matt Schaub was the quarterback I drafted so I watched every Texans game rooting for my fantasy QB. Schaub’s 2009 year helped me win my 1st fantasy championship and it solidified my love of the Texans. I’ve been a dedicated Houston Texans fan ever since.

Why I call myself brownchubbybear

Are you familiar with the show “Scrubs”? There were two characters on the show named JD (Dr. John Michael “J.D.” Dorian, M.D) and Turk (Christopher Turk). JD was white and Turk was black. They were constantly made fun of by their peers because of how close they were. This is a similar relationship I had with one of my best friends. I am brown (both my parents are from India) and my friend was Italian. JD used to call Turk his “brown bear”. People used say we were like JD & Turk.

Because I was chubby I came up with the username  brownchubbybear online. What started as a funny online persona became something I used for nearly two decades and once my friend passed away, I decided to keep it.

My real name is Vinod, but literally no one calls me that. People either call me brownchubbybear, BCB, VT or V.

Leo

Leo is a Houstonian who has been a Texans fan since the inception of the team. He has a deep appreciation for the culture of Houston. His love for the Texans intensified upon graduating from high school and moving to New Orleans for college. Being away from home gave him an opportunity to exude pride in his city through the texans. Since then, Leo has followed the team closely through the good seasons and disappointing ones fighting through extreme highs and fits of murderous depression (i.e. Bill O’ Brien trading Hopkins for a can of used motor oil… boy what a dumbass he was) but anyway…

Things are looking up and with DeMeco and Slowik leading a charge that is reminiscent of the Kubiak Texan teams and a relatively blank slate there are many different interesting ways the team can go and he is looking for to covering it for you all!

Josh

I became a Houston Texans fan in a roundabout way. As a native New Orleanian my interest in the Texans started in 2011 when Leo and I were in college together in New Orleans. We talked frequently about the Texans path to maintaining and later rebuilding back to the Kubiak-Era level of championship contention. My fandom intensified when the Texans were able to secure the services of GM Nick Casario who provided a new hope of credibility for the first time since the Kubiak years. This enthusiasm grew even further as my favorite college prospects, including Stingley, Nico, Will and Pitre, were drafted as building blocks for the future. The future is bright and I’m looking forward to being there when the Lombardi finally gets hoisted for the first time in the Houston.
